As they say in Boston, this shit was ”wicked cool”. Goosebay: abandoned but still bustling with activity and muzzleblasts. Jess & Andy were so rad and completely open to being sprayed with copious amounts of milk. Good people. I suppose nothing is faux pas for Kaptive…plus if your in Alaska I think you have to shoot [...]
Hawaiin natives offed Mr. Cook on his last voyage. Why you ask? Because he looks mean, thats why.Its nice when your client works at the venue and you can shamelessly run amok a maze of old teak and paintings for fabulous imagery. The Cpt. Cook hotel is one of the few joints downtown that doesnt feel cookie-cutter. [...]
Clouds can obscure and taint or clouds can bring to life any location. I crossed my fingers for no rain. Thanks universe. and Thanks Jackie! This was the shortest but one of the most beautiful weddings Iv had the priviledge of photographing. Certainly, big love needs little ceremony. A cool, lonely breeze and mountain silence was only interrupted by [...]
This shindig was all over the place. Dressing up and putting the finishing touches on flowers, cakes, and custom embroidered ball caps (which obviously nobody wore) took place at a lovely home harboring a tree that seemed strangely in place. From there it was to the park for some photos with the whole fam. Lots of them. I [...]
There was a bear on the path a few dozen yards from our little cliff..but we kept shooting…for a little while. Lorena and Kyle were resolute despite the magnificent danger that faced us. Later that evening Buck would be swept into the inlet’s powerful current and carried into oblivion…it was really sad (I nicknamed him after the late Jeff Buckley). Even [...]
?Kaptive Photography featured in the boomtastic and badass blog of www.rocknrollbride.com …which is well…pretty rocknroll. She picks out some awesome stuff. I love Kat’s (<–writer of said blog) take on wedding essence. Its all about the fun, funny, and personal…not so much the cliche…unless of course thats your thing. So rock on.
Most of the staff said the place was haunted. More specifically that there was 3 ghosts. For some reason I always end up asking people about ghosts/monsters wherever I find myself working or traveling. Its like this quiet but persistant desire to touch something unexplainable. A friend of mine claims to have seen Bigfoot in E. WA [...]
It has to be a good sign when the Earth breathes fire and ash on your wedding reception. Literally. But it is a pain in the ass for the photographer. But cancelled flights and a close-call scare have been trumped by a kickass party. What a gaggle of fun-loving North dwellers. I couldnt have had more fun and to [...]
…and they did. Matanuska glacier is more easily accessible then any other surrounding glacier…”accessible” meaning a 3 mile drive down a road fit for an ATV. But god it was awesome. Goliath slabs of ancient ice and glistening stone daggers made the witnesses an uneven 5. What a beautiful place to say the words…and what an incredible site to [...]
